Did the test before driving and after driving. Removed intake hoses etc to see the coolant hoses and expansion tank. I searched frantically for coolant leaks, could not find anything. I check coolant level and it was low again. Last time I topped off it was in the exact middle of min and max lines. I check oil level, and it was a tad bit over min line. Oil and coolant lights still did not return.Ī week after the VCG, the coolant light returns as well as oil light. I topped off oil, replaced VCG which was really hardened and leaking in some areas. I searched for possible causes which were VCG, oil separator, head gasket. I check oil level and it was dangerously low. I find low compression and also oil on spark plugs. One day, I decide to do a compression test just for kicks. Eventually I checked the coolant level, and found it to be just a tad bit low and I topped off with water. I always kept my eye on the coolant temp guage, which always stayed dead center, no matter what. I ignored it because my reasoning was that if the light goes off, then there is no problem because by then I should have lost all my coolant. Yes I know it was stupid that I did not check my coolant level in the beginning. coolant light came on, then turned off after a couple mins.Īs the days progressed, the coolant light stayed on longer and longer, and this time it was periodically coming on and off even while driving. I thought it wasnt a problem either, since my Jettas do this in extreme cold weather as well, and then the light turns off after a couple mins. Yellow oil light has been going on and off. I thought it wasnt a big deal, I'll just live with it for now, since I know my oil level is normal.Ģ weeks later, the temps dropped to about 4 degrees for about 2 weeks. I searched online and found out its most likely the oil level sensor since they go bad all the time. rechecked oil level and it was exactly the same as before. Yellow oil light turned off.Ī day later, the light came on again. Rechecked oil level and it was slightly below the max mark. I bought a quart of oil and poured in half just incase. I checked my oil level and it turned out to be normal (halfway mark). One day in early December, I noticed the yellow oil light come on. I am creating this thread for documentation purposes as well as getting help. There has been an ongoing problem with my car since December regarding the coolant light and the oil light (yellow).
